48th World Congress on Dance Research CID c / o UNESCO (International Dance Council) to be held for the first time in France in Avignon from 9 to 13 November 2016.
You are all invited to meet the dance world in a fraternal spirit of cooperation.
Workshop, lectures, performances and informal exchanges will alternate around three main themes: Pedagogy, Creativity, Dance Therapy and a homage to Isadora Duncan, pioneer of modern dance.
In a final, roundtable on universal rights to dance for all will open new perspectives on the future of dance ...
Avignon, city of the Popes and world heritage of UNESCO will host the convention in historical premises of the Conservatory of Music and Dance of the great Avignon. Guests can visit the Palais des Papes and dance to the famous Pont d'Avignon!

You are invited to participate in the Avignon section of Dance Congress 2016, 9th - 13th november, 2016 with or without presentations. This unique event is open to all forms of dance: Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Folk, Ballroom, Oriental, Tango, Therapeutical, Recreational, Revival etc.
The program includes: scientific research papers, lectures, workshops, video presentations, exhibitions, performances, informal evenings.
We welcome specialists in cultural studies, art historians, psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists, philosophers, choreologists, choreographers, dance teachers, dance therapists, dance film directors and professionals representing all forms of dance from all over the world.
President of CID Prof. Dr. Alkis Raftis will hand International Certification parchments to students/dancers; other senior CID officials will attend.
CID congresses are the largest gatherings of dance specialists world-wide, the best opportunity to showcase one's work to a wide audience of practitioners, dance teachers, choreographers, researchers, journalists, organizers and suppliers.
Approximately 400 conferees from 40 countries of the 5 continents attend each congress.
Intended primarily for professionals, the congress is a scientific conference, a trade fair and a participatory event, facilitating contacts with colleagues and informal discussions.
All forms of dance are represented. Strictly non-profit. Not to be confused with festivals, workshops, competitions, forums or open conferences. There are no observers or invited guests, only registered participants can attend the morning sessions; spectarors can attend the evening performances only.

The congress is organized by the local Section of CID, in collaboration with the Executive Secretariat of the CID. It is placed under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the National UNESCO Commission, as well as the City Council.
Submitting a presentation (research report, lecture-demonstration, class, performance, exhibition, projection) is optional. For each presentation a text must be sent one month before to be submitted to the Scientific Committee.
Absentee presenters can register also; their presentations will be included in the program and in the proceedings. The proceedings website is visited by tens of thousands of dance professionals all over the world.
To apply for a visa to consulates and/or financial assistance, registered participants receive an official certificate.
The CID is a UNESCO partner and recognized by national governments, as a representative of the art of dance at the highest level.
This conference is aimed primarily at professionals and is both a research and a meeting with colleagues friendly event. Its atmosphere facilitates informal discussions and individual initiative as well as exchanges between colleagues and the initiation of international cooperation.
It is also for the dancers of the Avignon region a wonderful opportunity to meet the international world of dance and present their work to professionals from different backgrounds and countries.
Avignon organized by the Section of CID, in cooperation with the International Dance Council CID - UNESCO, strictly nonprofit, full equality among participants, no guest speakers or observers. They bear their travel and subsistence expenses.
The International Dance Council is the official organization that covers all forms of dance in all countries of the world.
It brings together international, national and regional organizations as well as individuals working in the field of dance.
